Backyard deer

7 bucks in my backyard this morning. The big 8 point was with them. They might have walked in front of the camera, I'm not sure. I don't have a pic of the 8 point yet. The big one I posted is not him. He is impressive.

Blast him....Archery season starts Sept 15 in Mo ? Which means start of rifle season for many. Didn't know bows made that loud of a noise when you shot one. Opening day of bow season sound quite like the opening day of firearms here.

I am seriously thinking about my bow. However, if he runs off like they usually do , that would be a pain in the arse. Worth it....but a pain in the arse.

Internets been down here. Anyways, Thursday evening I was out for a evening Dog ride, Came past the hay barn at the home ranch (Drews) and WTF ?? There stood a yearling albino with 2 other does and another yearling. Moms a standard coloration throwing a albino gene, I 've never seen a albino buck ? So that would be my guess anyway. This is the 3rd albino I've seen in about the last 3 years, all in the same 1/4 mile of road.
Some idjit will poach it as soon as they see it.

Got some weird stuff going on in the food plot. THOUGHT the soybeans had died from lack of rain.......NOPE, Still there. Just being chewed off...Stubs left. Tracks all OVER !! the ground is so torn up, can't tell by tracks what's been in it.
Here's the deal. Ain't seen NOTHING in over 2 months. There's nuts, any variety EVERYWHERE. You name it they are producing like crazy. Driving up the driveway sounds like someone shooting at ya from walnuts popping under the tires, acorns everywhere, like walking on ball bearings.
We are in a drought again. Wonder if hogs have moved in.
Just sowed some wheat. We are now a CWD testing county, mandatory. Point restrictions are gone, and I'm pert sure it's blow them all away limits now. Strange year for sure...Let Ya All know what I figure out.

The drought is over, the wheat has come up, barely, Surely been a strange year. Worked more this year, than the last several. But feel the least prepared, Didn't scout at all. Rifles are sighted in. The 284 Savage 110 build is primary, The 7.7 Jap for backup. and still can go to the Savage 110 300 WSM if needed. Hunting at Drew's, Don't think any of the girls are hunting.
Found out I now am the controlling hunter of the farms for hunting. Kind of surprising, anyone wants to hunt ? Got to clear from me. Didn't find this out till last night.
Double, The way I figure it. Your action is on the short time till delivery. I figure about 12/1 .....We'll see.

Fixin to head out hunting. To all those hunting this weekend and soon. Good Luck and get a big one.

Back from hunting. Passed on a doe, still had a little milk sucker with her. Very tempted to blast her ass. Using handloads with Hornady SST bullets, as yet untried, wanted to know if they worked correctly. Since I'm behind already on meat processing from last year ? Let the doe go.....

I'm going next weekend. I can't make up my mind about which gun to use first. The tried and true 6.5x55 swede or the new 25-06. Probably the 25-06 just because I am antsy to hunt with it. My biggest problem is that Linda has to take me because I can't drive with my toe yet. This is gonna suck because if a big one does come out guess who will shoot it? She wants one with horns this year. I think I have created a monster.

If she has to drag one she will shore have to drag it cause until I get this pin out I can't put full weight on this foot. If she wants one bad enough I'll guarantee she will figure a way to get it out.

I almost did as well as the bus driver did tonight. I had a friend that would drive a one legged guy to a stand carry me over to the hunting club this afternoon. I didn't see diddley---until, I damn near hit a pretty good sized buck with the truck on the way home. It had a good rack but in the confusion of trying to brake with a space sandle on my right foot and swerving over into the other lane and almost running in the ditch, I didn't see how many points he had but he was a nice one.
