Here it comes.

I'm not buying anything in the article at all. Saying the base of the bullet needs to be heeled to fit in the case? bullshit, My understanding is that the base is heeled to obdurate in the bore when fired. Among other things. The case is straight sided UNTIL the crimp is put on the case.
Sorry, but the 22 long rifle has evolved all that it reasonably can. The next step, which has been done to death, Centerfire, or the 22 mag. There is a reason the 22 is one of the few rimfire cartridges left of a number of obsolete rimfire cartridges. Winchester screwed the pooch here. They should have run production for the MANY obsolete rimfire cartridges already in existence. Look at the Cartridges Of The World...Obsolete section. The first lever action rifles were all rimfires till the introduction of the centerfire.
I can hear the screaming a decade from now, When those that bought these new super duper latest wonder cartridges have no ammo source because it's out of production.
Winchester has ALWAYS been bad at ammo supply for their own developed cartridges. Cases in point, of many, 307 Win. and 284 Win. I have both, and either cartridge is a bitch to find ammo or brass for. The short mag cartridges are getting the same I hear.

t looks like Savage makes the only rifles for this caliber. I think you are right.....people will buy these rifles and then down the road be obsolete. That's a gamble I am not willing to make. I saw ammo for sale on GB for 25 cent a piece.
